For Board Admins

Violation Categories

Categories let your board classify violations consistently and filter them quickly. Go to Settings → Violation Categories to manage them. This page is available to board admins.

Default Categories

Every portal starts with six common violation categories so you can issue violations right away:

Landscaping

Overgrown lawns, dead plants, unapproved landscaping

Parking

Improper, unauthorized, or blocked parking

Noise

Excessive noise and nuisance complaints

Pets

Unleashed pets, waste, or pet policy breaches

Structural

Unapproved modifications, repairs, or additions

Common Area

Misuse or damage of shared community spaces

You can rename, edit, or deactivate any default category to match how your community actually tracks issues.

Adding a Custom Category

Type a name (up to 100 characters) under Add a Violation Category, add an optional description to remind the board what belongs in it, and click Add. The new category is available the next time you issue a violation.

Note: You can have up to 8 active categories at a time. If you hit the limit, deactivate one you no longer use before adding a new one. Category names must be unique.

Editing a Category

Click Edit next to any category to change its name or description. Saving updates the category everywhere it's used — existing violations keep their category and simply show the new name.

Deactivating a Category

Click Deactivate to retire a category you no longer need. Deactivated categories:

  • No longer appear when issuing a new violation
  • Stay attached to existing violations, which are never affected
  • Can be reactivated at any time by clicking Activate
