NeighborBase

For Board Admins

Request Categories

Categories help residents pick the right bucket for their request and make it easy for the board to filter and route incoming work. Go to Settings → Categories to manage them.

Default Categories

Every new NeighborBase portal starts with five default categories:

Maintenance

Property repairs and upkeep

Compliance

Rule violations, variances, and enforcement

Amenity

Common area facilities and recreational issues

Finance

Billing, payments, and budget questions

General

Miscellaneous inquiries that don't fit elsewhere

Adding a Custom Category

Click Add Category, type a name (up to 50 characters), and save. The new category appears in the request submission form for residents immediately.

Note: Category names must be unique — you can't have two categories with the same name (case-insensitive).

Deactivating a Category

Toggle a category off to deactivate it. Deactivated categories:

  • No longer appear in the submission form for new requests
  • Still display correctly on existing requests that used that category
  • Can be reactivated at any time by toggling them back on

Setting Response Times

The Categories page is also where you set response times — how quickly the board aims to respond to and resolve requests. Set a community-wide default at the top of the page, then give any category its own override (say, 14 days for architectural review).
